For someone who loves traveling, I hate flying! I start getting anxious the minute I book my trip. I’ve looked up every meditation tactics, playlist, books, whatever would make me calm down on board. Nothing worked. I get so terrified that it’s impossible for me to sleep, even on a 12 hour flight. I recently found what works for me and if you’re anxiety while flying is as bad as mine, I really hope it works for you.
I treat my flights like a “pampered nighttime routine.” I take a long hot shower with my favorite body scrub, then moisturize, put my hair up and wear the most comfortable clothing? I do that right before going to the airport.
For starters, I use my homemade/DIY body scrub:
- 4 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 8 tablespoons of sea salt
- 1 tablespoon of lavender oil
After, I use my Dr. Bronners tea tree body wash. To moisturize, I love to massage Aromatherapy with eucalyptus and tea into my skin for relaxation. I usually wear leggings with a sweatshirt or anything cute but comfy.
For the plane, I bring four important items:
1- My own blanket
I don’t like the blankets provided on the plane. They’re too thin and so many people have used them. I like my own blanket that I can wash, mist and always have with me.
I love it when my blanket smells good, so I spay it with my pillow mist which relaxes me. It smells so good!
Warm slippers because why not? They’re cute and my toes are always freezing. These are my absolute favorites. I’ll never fly without them again. You can get slippers anywhere. I got mine at a random lingerie store at a mall.
The best decision I ever made in my life, was to take this baby as soon as I stepped on a plane to Paris. The flight was behind schedule, and the pilot got us there in four hours instead of eight. Apparently it was a bumpy ride, I knocked out so I felt nothing. Shout out to Zzzquil, Vicks, NyQuil! Sponsor me. I love you. You rock!PS: I always wear a hydrating sheet mask for 15 minutes on the plane, the air is drying.
I hope this helps you out travelers. Please let me know if you try these tips for your next flight and how it worked for you. XOXO for reading this.
